Undergraduate Degree in Economics

Economics is the social science which examines and analyses all kinds of economic activity in order to understand how the processes of production, consumption, and trade function and inter-relate. Economists have a thorough understanding of the mathematics underlying the economic systems that are employed throughout the world.

On this degree, our students are taught not only the theoretical foundations of economics, but also how to apply them practically in the professional sphere. The programme is designed to provide you with the resources and skills necessary to become a competent professional in this field, and give you with the opportunity to pursue a career in teaching or research.

University studies in Economics are already consolidated in most major higher education institutions throughout the world, and these studies have been on offer at the University of Granada since 2003. There are more than 300 teachers at our Faculty. These teachers are experienced, highly resourceful, and up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.

This four-year Degree consists of three learning stages: basic, core and elective subjects. Contents in these stages include subjects such as macroeconomics and microeconomics, mathematics, economic policy analysis, econometrics, and history.

Upon successful completion of our degree, our graduates have significant employment prospects. They often go on to work in the public sector as administrators, statisticians, auditors, and logistics managers, to mention just a few positions. They can also go on to work in the private sector as auditors for small companies, as staff in international banks, or as financial consultants.

Economics is an extremely important discipline. Those who wish to undertake studies in the discipline must be ready for the challenge of analysing the socio-economic impact of specific economic policies in society, both regionally, nationally, and internationally.
