Born in 1968 in Granada, Dr. María del Mar Holgado Molina has been a Senior Lecturer in International and Spanish Economics since 2003. She also teaches World Economics, Spanish Economics and International Trade on the Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management at the Faculty of Economics and Business. Additionally, she is a key member of the Economics of the European Union Research Group.
Her main lines of research are focused on regional economics, economic development indicators, economic globalisation and the European Union. She is the author of several monographs, books chapters and numerous publications in specialised journals that feature in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), such as European Planning Studies, Applied Research in Quality of Life, Archives of Disease in Childhood and The World Economy. Moreover, she has participated in diverse research projects funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport and the Regional Government of Andalusia, as well as in different research contracts such as “Diagnostics and a Comprehensive Plan for Promoting Internal Trade”, “Social Economy Accounts: Magnitude and Funding of the Third Sector in Spain” and “University Youth, Equality and Gender-based Violence”.
In terms of university management expertise, she has held several important positions: Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (2008-2015), member of the UGR Governing Council (2008-2015) and member of the UGR Social Council (2009-2015). Furthermore, she was Vice-Dean of Research and Third Cycle Qualifications and Vice-Dean of Curricula and Quality Assessment at the Faculty of Economics and Business. At the regional level, she acted as a consultant during the curriculum development of several bachelor’s degrees, such as Business Management, Economics, Accounting and Finance, Marketing and Market Research, and Tourism.
