Student Societies and Clubs

At the University of Granada we encourage everyone to join a University society or club (Spanish: Asociaciones Universitarias), to participate in university life and become an active member of the university community. We feel that it is of the utmost importance for students to be able to turn their visions and project ideas into a reality, whether these projects are academic or cultural in nature, or based on principles of international solidarity. We also wish to provide you with the means of making a positive contribution to the University community, and to society.

With a view to diversifying the range of societies and clubs at the UGR we actively encourage members of the University to get involved in existing societies and clubs, and to set up new ones.

How to get involved in student clubs and societies

If you’re interested in getting involved in university life and meeting lots of like-minded and interesting people along the way, you have two options:

  1. You can join an existing society or club.

  2. You can create your own University society or club (Spanish: Asociación Universitaria) with the advice and support of the Student Societies Office (Spanish: Secretariado de Asociacionismo, Cultura y Sociedad)

The Student Societies Office strives to provide members of the UGR community with the financial support and management support they need to set up and run student societies effectively.

We provide the following services:

  • We register new societies and update the registry

  • We ensure that these registered societies are informed about, and benefit from, the resources offered by the Vicerrectorate for Student Services

  • We advertise two funding opportunities annually by means of calls for grant applications - you can use this funding to carry out projects in your UGR society

You only need 3 people to set up a new society and with the support of the Student Societies Office, in approximately 3 weeks it will be a fully registered organisation.
