The University of Granada will participate in a pioneering new project entitled ‘PAgES: Post-Crisis Journalism in Post-Crisis Libya: A Bottom-up Approach to the Development of Cross-Media Journalism’. The project, which is co-financed by the Erasmus+ Programme, aims to foster innovation and the exchange of good practices in the teaching of journalism in Libya. A team of six lecturers from the UGR Departments of Information and Communication Sciences; General Linguistics and Literary Theory; and Contemporary History will be involved in the initiative.

PAgES, which has been approved for nearly 1 million in funding, will be implemented over the next three years and will be coordinated by Dr. Andrea Miconi from IULM University of Milan. The project consortium is comprised of nine universities from four countries: Italy (University of Milan; Sapienza University of Rome), Spain (University of Granada), Portugal (University of Aveiro), and Libya (University of Tripoli; Sirte University; Sabratha University; Misurata University; University of Zawia), as well as the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED).

UGR lecturers Jordi Alberich Pascual (local coordinator of the project at the UGR), Domingo Sánchez-Mesa Martínez, Francisco Javier Gómez Pérez, Juan Ángel Jódar Marín, José Ángel Ruiz Jiménez, and Diego Checa Hidalgo, are collectively in charge of defining the technical standards of the Lab Training included in the project. The UGR team will manage the quality assurance work package, develop the monitoring indicators, assess the training programmes, and collect feedback from the other project partners.

The PAgES project will be carried out within the framework of the Erasmus+ Key Action 2 programme, which is designed to enhance capacity building in the field of higher education and modernise institutions in the programme partner countries. The UGR is currently participating in nine of these projects, coordinating one of them.
