Undergraduate Degree in Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is the health science and technique concerned with the healing of impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility and a healthy lifestyle through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention. Physiotherapists help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice.

The University of Granada was the first university in Andalusia to implement third level studies in Physiotherapy, starting in 1989. Our Degree in Physiotherapy is the result of combining the evolution of this first effort with new technologies and advances in this field. As a student on our degree, you will be able to carry out examination, diagnosis and work directly with patients suffering from physical impairments.

This four-year degree is comprised of four learning stages: basic subjects, core subjects, elective subjects and an internship. Basic subjects provide a grounding in areas like anatomy, biochemistry, physiology and statistics. Our core subjects cover more specific areas, such as physiotherapy, cytology, histology and kinesiotherapy.

We offer a wide selection of elective subjects in areas like nutrition, sport physiotherapy and alternative medicine. While completing our degree, you will also complete a supervised internship, which is considered a fundamental part of your training. Your internship will be taken on your fourth and final year, corresponding to 42 credits.

Our graduates are professional physiotherapists who are able to work alone or in teams. Physiotherapy is a highly sought profession in our society, with a wide range of professional prospects both in Spain and abroad. Physiotherapists are constantly in demand in the public health service, private clinics, research departments, and in sports therapy. European countries like Germany, France and England are constantly searching for physiotherapists, while Brazil and parts of Asia are becoming important markets for physiotherapists.

Physiotherapy promotes mobility, quality of life and reintegration after work accidents. It is a vital part of society, keeping people healthy and active and helping them recover from their physical impairments.
