Undergraduate Degree in Nursing

Nursing is the branch of health care concerned with providing care to individuals, families or communities with the aim of maintaining and promoting health, preventing illness and helping patients recover. Nursing as an activity may stretch back to the very origins of human beings but, in Spain, it was regulated at the beginning of the 20th century. Studies in nursing were implemented in Granada about halfway through the last century.

As a student on our Degree in Nursing, you will gain the specialist knowledge and practical skills needed to carry out your profession. Our experienced and highly qualified teaching staff are specialised in all the areas needed to provide you with a complete interdisciplinary approach.

Our four-year Degree in Nursing is comprised of five modules: 1) Health Sciences; 2) Nursing Sciences; 3) Cross-Curricular Training; 4) Elective Subjects; 5) Internship and Dissertation.

On this Degree, you will take subjects in areas like anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, basic health care, psychology, public health, statistics, pharmacology, specific legislation, palliative care or geriatrics. Elective subjects include areas like infectious and immunological diseases, psychosocial stress, English for specific purposes or the use of ionizing radiation.

Our graduates enjoy a high employability rate, not only in Spain but also abroad. Committed nurses who are trained in different care methods, research and technologies are in high demand throughout the world. Nurses find employment primarily in health care, namely in public hospitals, private clinics or even settings like the military or NGOs. Other career options include teaching, research, management and consultancy.

Nursing is a highly rewarding career. Nurses spend a lot more time in direct contact with patients than other physicians do, so the perceived quality of the health care that is given depends largely on these professionals. Moreover, this profession is becoming more and more important because health care systems around the world are shifting their attention towards more preventative models, in which nurses play a critical role.
