Research focus

I am currently engaged in research on the problematic use of technology. Specifically, I examine the impact of problematic smartphone use on emotional, cognitive, developmental, and social dimensions of human functioning. I approach this phenomenon using network models and probabilistic frameworks, with the aim of moving beyond simplistic, alarmist, or reductionist perspectives.

Technology is not inherently undesirable; however, it is essential to carefully consider the challenges that may arise as a consequence of technological progress. From a rigorous and intellectually honest scientific framework, it becomes possible to inform relevant decisions that may contribute to the development of public policies aimed at promoting population health and well‑being.

Key domains of impact

  • Emotional regulation and affective arousal
  • Technology-mediated social interaction
  • Psychological vulnerability and impulsivity
  • Child and adolescent development
  • Psychological well-being and public health

Publications & media

A complete and up‑to‑date list of my scientific publications is available through Google Scholar and ORCID. My research is primarily disseminated through international scientific journals and open science repositories.

Some of this work—particularly research on problematic technology and smartphone use—has also received attention from academic and institutional media outlets. This dissemination has contributed to public discussions on the psychological, social, and developmental impact of digital technology, supporting the transfer of scientific knowledge to society.
