The biological role of zinc and magnesium in superior organisms is extraordinary important, despite they are present in minimal concentrations (called trace elements). Therefore, we study the relationship between the deficiency of these macronutrients and disease, as well as the possible therapeutic effect of these minerals supply.
Lipid disorders are very frequent in the general population, however in advanced stages they can produce severe complications such as ischemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, stroke, …. That is why the early detection of these situations and the primary prevention as soon as possible in the general population is very important.
Despite the therapeutic and research efforts to control the risk factors of the disease, there are many patients who develop chronic renal insufficiency. Therefore, it is necessary to find more efficient and less traumatic therapies in order to improve the quality of life for these patients.
