INTRODUCTION
The research group called “Trace elements in Internal Medicine” is composed of teachers, physicians, and researchers of the University of Granada in order to study the interrelationships between elements such as zinc, magnesium, and selenium mainly, which are found in the living organisms in tiny concentrations, but with great biological, structural and functional importance.
The aim of the research group was to correlate the trace elements with the most epidemiologically and clinically relevant diseases: diabetes, hypertension, chronic liver diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart insufficiency, deficiency states.
