Personal Bio

Having completed his graduate studies at the University of Granada in 1987 (Sciences), DEA in Human Evolution (1989),and a Ph. D. in Pedagogy (2003), Dr. Gijón taught Biology at IES Torreblanca in Sevilla (Spain), from 1988 to 1998 and several Teacher Education courses at the University of Sevilla (Faculty of Education Sciences), from 1992 to 1998. Besides, from 1991 to 1998 he also served as a Principal at IES Torreblanca in Sevilla. During these years, he also acted as Educational Advisor for the Autonomous Government of Andalusia. Since 2008, He's teaching at the Universisy of Granada.

He currently works as Assistant Professor at the Department of Didactics & School Organization, senior consultan of labSofor Innovation & development, University of Granada's Spin Off.

He is married to illustrator Estrella Fages (http://www.estrellafages.com) and they have a son and two grandchildren.
