Student Grants

The Spanish Association for Information Retrieval (SERI) will provide with a limited number of scholarships to Master/PhD students that want to attend the conference. Preference will be given to full-time students with accepted papers that have no alternative travel support. Nevertheless, those not presenting at the conference are eligible to apply. All applicants must be full-time students at the time of the conference. Successful applicants will be expected to assist with various tasks in the running of the conference.

There are two types of grants:

  • registration fee waiver,
  • registration fee waiver and travel support.

Applicants must submit:

  • motivation letter (1 page maximum length),
  • detailed resume (2 pages maximum length),
  • confirmation of the student status (e.g. a scanned student ID) and
  • an estimate of the travel costs (if applying for travel support)

in a single PDF. The PDF should be submitted to ceri16 @ ugr . es

Application deadline is the 15th of April, 2016. All applicants will be notified about the decision by the 14th of April 2016, so before early bird registration deadline.

If you have a paper accepted, then it is necessary to register for the conference by the 15th of May to ensure that the paper is included in the proceedings. If your student grant application is successful, your registration fee will be refunded to you. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to attend the conference and present the paper or poster, and this will be taken into account for any cancellation requests.
