Purpose

The Limits of Science is a workshop which aims to explore this general theme from the perspectives of metaphysicians, general philosophers of science, philosophers of biology and philosophers of physics. Topics to be discussed will include the scope of scientific explanations, the reductionism-emergentism debate, and the extent to which metaphysical considerations, e.g. regarding concepts like time and causality, may condition our thinking about the nature of the universe.
