Title: Relations between tectonic and volcanic sismicity of Tenerife through the study of internal structure of the crustal and mantle of the oceanic channel between Tenerife and Gran Canaria

Reference: CGL2009-05901-E/BTE

Funding: 18000 €

Period: October 2009 - October 2011

The aim of this project is the installation of five broadband sismic stations on Gran Canaria Island that they will be maintained during two years, with the purpose of:

- Determine the deep structure of the crustal and upper mantle through receivers functions analysis using telesismos.

- Determine the level of microsismicity in Gran Canaria Island, and in particular, the possibility of some type of sismicity of volcanic origin.

-Supplement other networks (IGN, HISS proyect) which focuse in Tenerife (except EOSO station of National Geographic Institute in Gran Canaria) to permit a detailed analysis (location, mecanism) of earthquakes that occur in the oceanic channel between Tenerife and Gran Canaria, one of the more importants sismogenetics zones of the canarian archipelago.

- Study of surface struture of Gran Canaria and the oceanic channel through noise correlation

- Studies of anisotropy of crustal and mantle
