Abstract

You are welcome to use the IndElec's WWW homepages. This URL presents the computer package IndElec, which is a freeware software intended to computing some measures involved in the study of party and election systems. The IndElec makes possible to calculate the most important rates of disproportionality in election systems, and the most widespread dimensions of the party systems: fragmentation, number of parties, concentration, competitiveness, polarization, volatility, regional vote and dual vote.

In a monograph entitled Análisis de datos electorales, these indicators are examined in depth with notes taken of its advantages and drawbacks. They are also applied to the different types of elections, which have taken place in Spain since the reinstatement of democracy, at different levels of aggregation.
