La recreación literaria del universo prostitucional durante el primer franquismo se incluye siempre en una representación de los marginales; su objetivo principal es la revelación de lo indecible. Apartándose del discurso oficial civilizado, la ficción recrea una visión de la prostitución que se opone a veces a la realidad. El estudio de novelistas como Cela y Martín-Santos es de gran interés, ya que ambos, con técnicas narrativas sumamente diferentes, proporcionan una visión crítica y denunciadora de la sociedad española así como del mundo tétrico de la prostitución. Sin embrago, la ficción no llegará nunca a completar los numerosos blancos de la historia de la prostitución durante aquella época. En efecto, la ilusión referencial propia a la ficción, impide que Esta última desempeñe jamás un papel de documento histórico, lo que no reduce el interés del sustrato literario.

The representation of the prostitutional world during the first Francoism is always embedded in the illustration of the dropouts; its aim being to cast a light on the indescribable. Moving away from the politically correct fiction depicts a vision of prostitution, sometimes contrasting with reality. Studying novel writers such as Cela and Martín-Santos reveals to be of great interest since both writers, with noticeably different narrative technics, offer a critical and denunciatory vision of the Spanish society as well as of the gloomy prostitutional world. However, fiction will never fill in the numerous gaps that exist in the history of prostitution during that time. Indeed, the referential illusion that defines fiction, forbids its use as a historical document, which does not decrease the significance of the literary substratum.
