MONETA

Juno Moneta was the Roman patron goddess of money and the minting of money. Early Roman Senatorial mints were located in the temple of Juno Moneta within the city of Rome. The allegorical figure Moneta is derived from Juno Moneta, whose temple was on the Capitoline Hill at Rome, with the first name of the goddess being dropped and just the Moneta remaining. Her attributes include scales and cornucopiae. Her name, from the Latin word "monere" to warn, is the source of the word "money". Needless to say, coins with a Moneta reverse are popular amongst Roman coin collectors.
