Experimental studies of fluid-induced reaction interfaces in minerals and experimental reaction products

During my postdoctoral training (January 2009-January 2011, University of Münster -Germany), I developed new skills in the study of the initial stages of mineral replacement mechanisms in a range of carbonates and sulphates. My research in this field is aimed at determining how the degree of epitaxy between parent and product phases controls the coupling between dissolution and precipitation.
I am also interested in the effect that solution composition (background electrolytes, pH or presence of organics) may have in the replacement process. The expertise acquired during my first pos-doctoral stage has been very useful for the development of this research line.
