Abstract

This paper describes the design of an object oriented rendering system. The system has been designed as part of a research project whose goal is to investigate the influence of different aspects of the rendering process on the quality of the resulting image. The interest areas include: the representation of energies and colours, the indexing methods, and the rendering algorithms themselves. The design of this system poses some special problems as it is required to produce local modification on each part of the system, without needing to adapt others components, as for example the representation of the scene. The paper discusses the main problems which appeared on the design and how they have been solved.
