The General Coordination for Entrepreneurship (UGRemprendedora) at the University of Granada is currently running the 8th University Entrepreneurship Competition, which is designed to encourage and boost the entrepreneurship potential of the university community. The competition, which closes on 17 January 2020, is open to students, teaching staff and researchers, administrative and support staff, as well as graduates who are UGR Alumni members (with exclusive or junior profiles).

Proposals will be accepted in three categories: Entrepreneurship Initiatives, UGR Spin-offs, and Junior UGR Companies. Additionally, those competing in the Entrepreneurship Initiatives category will be in with a chance to win one of three special mentions: Social Entrepreneurship, Women Entrepreneurs and Green Entrepreneurship.

In addition to the 8th University Entrepreneurship Competition, the University is also currently running its 3rd Ideas Competition, which enables members of the university community to turn their innovative ideas for products and services into a reality.

The prizes on offer in each category are as follows:

Entrepreneurship Initiatives:

  • €3,000, €2,500 and €2,000 for first, second and third place, respectively

UGR Spin-offs:

  • €3,000, €2,500 and €2,000 for first, second and third place, respectively

Junior UGR Companies:

  • A prize of €1,500

Moreover, the first-prize winners from the Entrepreneurship Initiatives and UGR Spin-off categories will also receive comprehensive financial and accounting advice over the course of 12 months. The winners of the Entrepreneurship Initiatives and Junior Companies categories — as well as of the three special mentions — will also have free access to the BREAKER Centre for Entrepreneurship of the UGR (subject to availability). Furthermore, the winning entrepreneurship initiatives that also involve the setting-up of a company will be able to use the “UGR Startup” seals.

The UGR Centre for Entrepreneurship develops and coordinates activities designed to foster entrepreneurship at the University of Granada. Its overall goal is to encourage innovation and to make significant socioeconomic contributions to society.
