A dragon dance being held on the streets of Granada

The University of Granada will run a diverse range of activities on Friday 8 February to mark the beginning of the Chinese New Year (Year of the Pig). Last year the UGR commemorated the 10-year anniversary since the founding of the Confucius Institute in Granada, which works to promote the study of the Chinese language and culture.

Dragon and lion dances — traditional performances typically staged during festive celebrations — will be held as part of a colourful parade from the Rectorate of the University of Granada to the Confucius Institute. In the evening, cultural activities, awards ceremonies and tastings of traditional Chinese dishes will take place at the School of Building Engineering.

Event details:

Parade: 12.00 at the Hospital Real

Cultural activities, awards ceremonies and tastings:

18.30 at the "Aula Magna" lecture theatre of the School of Building Engineering

The events are free of charge and are open to all members of the public and university community. However, please note that if you wish to attend the events at the School of Building Engineering, you first need to pick up an invitation from the "Aula Magna" lecture theatre between 17.30 and 18.20.
