The University of Granada is pleased to announce that its 13th International Staff Training Week will take place from 26 to 30 November 2018. The main objective of the programme is to provide a platform for the exchange of good practices and know-how between the UGR and our partner universities. Participants will acquire highly practical and transferable skills that will further their professional development in the higher education sector.

On this occasion, the event is aimed at staff from Erasmus+ Partner Countries and will include participants from Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Bolivia, Cambodia, El Salvador, Georgia, Guatemala, India, Libya, Montenegro, Morocco, Moldova, Myanmar, Palestine, Russia, Serbia, Thailand, Tunisia, and Ukraine, among others. The five-day programme includes plenary sessions, round tables, workshops, guided tours and networking events.

International staff training programmes are pivotal in shaping the path towards more effective higher education systems in Europe and beyond. In our view, such initiatives are also a great way for all of us to get involved in building and strengthening international mobility and cooperation networks.

The 13th International Staff Training Week programme

The 13th International Staff Training Week will give participants the chance to participate in one of the following two tracks:

  • Track 1: International Relations
  • Track 2: Promotion and Management of International Projects

The “International Relations” track will explore issues such as project management and inter-institutional agreements, the promotion of mobility opportunities within university communities, the recognition of qualifications, transparency in selection procedures, mobility at postgraduate level, and support services for international researchers and academics.

The “Promotion and Management of International Projects” track, meanwhile, will focus mainly on best practices in the development, management and execution of university development cooperation projects, academic cooperation projects, and international research projects.

Participants from both tracks will come together to take part in different activities, including guided tours of the UGR’s most emblematic buildings and monuments such as the Hospital Real— the XVI century building that is now the seat of the Rectorate of the University of Granada, and the fascinating “Parque de las Ciencias” Science Museum. An engaging workshop titled ‘Spanish Surival Kit’ will equip participants with basic Spanish language resources so that they can make the most of their stay in Granada.

The International Staff Training Week will be brought to an end on Friday 30 November with a closing speech by Artur Schmitt, Director for International Strategy, Projects and Networks at the UGR’s Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization. This will be followed by a string quartet concert by the Orchestra of the University of Granada.

The leading European university in international mobility figures

The University of Granada continues to receive more international students—and send more abroad—than any other European university. The International Staff Training Week is just one of the many activities reflecting the UGR’s ever-expanding international outlook, alongside events such as the Induction Sessions for international students — an initiative designed to enable the 2,000+ incoming mobility students at the UGR to find their bearings before each semester begins.
