On Thursday 5 October, the Rector of the University of Granada, Prof. Pilar Aranda, and the Vice-Rector for Student Services and Employability, Dr. José Antonio Naranjo, will launch the 2017-2018 UGR Induction Days and the 6th International Days, which will take place jointly on the Fuentenueva Campus on the 5 and 6 of October.

They will be joined at the opening ceremony by the Mayor of Granada, Francisco Cuenca; the Regional Delegate for Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment, Juan José Martín Arcos; the Provincial Deputy for Tourism, José Enrique Medina; the Provincial Deputy for Equality and Youth, Irene Justo; and the Vice-President of the Regional Government of Melilla, Paz Velázquez.

For more than three decades, Induction Days have been celebrated at the UGR in order to showcase the opportunities, resources and student societies on offer at our institution. Within the framework of the Induction Days, the UGR also celebrates its International Days.

The overarching aim of the 6th International Days is to boost international student mobility and showcase our 740+ partner institutions in 60 countries with which we have signed exchange agreements. We also provide useful information on diverse services and initiatives available through the UGR, such as international mobility programmes, grants and funding, European projects, cooperation projects, and international volunteering opportunities.

Within the framework of the UGR Induction Days, the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization will provide an International Marquee with different stands representing bodies such as the International Relations Office (IRO), Modern Languages Centre (CLM), Centre for Development Cooperation Initiatives (CICODE), and the Confucius Institute. The Marquee will also host stands with country-specific information and the mobility destinations currently on offer in 2017-2018.

Students will have the opportunity to discover the exceptional variety of international mobility programmes supported by the UGR, which offers more than 4,500 places in 60 countries every year.

International students who are currently enrolled at the UGR, together with local UGR students who have previously completed a mobility exchange abroad, will volunteer at the International Days, providing those who are contemplating a mobility exchange with essential advice and support.

The list of participating countries from which our students can choose is extensive: Albania, Argentina, Algeria, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Cambodia, Chile, China, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Guatemala, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Mexico, Morocco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, United States, Venezuela, and the Ukraine, to mention just a few.

Additionally, information sessions on our international mobility programmes will be delivered throughout the UGR’s Faculties next week.
