As a result of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in our Autonomous Community, the Andalusian universities, in line with the directives of the Autonomous Government of Andalusia, hereby communicate the suspension of all on-site teaching activities (both theoretical and practical) with effect from Monday, 16 March, until 30 March. On that date, the situation will be reviewed.

This morning the UGR’s Monitoring and Steering Committee for the epidemiological situation caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) met to analyse the information available to date.

The 3Economy+ project, which was selected by the European Union as an Erasmus+ KA2 Strategic Partnership Project for Higher Education in 2017, recently brought together students and academics from the University of Granada (Melilla Campus), the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre and the University of Malta in its third and final intensive programme, which took place from 15 to 22 February in Malta.

The Erasmus Mundus Master's Degree in Women's and Gender Studies (GEMMA) is coordinated by the University of Granada, funded by the EU's Erasmus Mundus programme, and involves the participation of the University of Bologna, the Central European University, the University of Łódź, the University of Oviedo, Utrecht University, and the University of York. As members of this consortium we express deep concern for the safety of one of our students, Patrick George Zaki, who was arrested on 7 February 2020 upon his arrival to Egypt, where he was visiting family.

Organised by the UGR’s Vice-Rectorates for Equality, Inclusion and Sustainability and for Institutional Policy and Planning, this seminar aims to generate new proposals that will help strengthen our University’s strategy in the implementation of the SDGs.

The University of Granada recently launched the 5th edition of its massive open online course (MOOC) entitled ‘The Alhambra: History, Art and Heritage’. This online course can be taken free of charge and is available in Spanish, English, French and Arabic.

The sign-up period for the “Entrepreneurial Route for Researchers in Training” is now open. Organised by the Directorate for Entrepreneurship (UGREmprendedora), this programme offers free workshops that will run on the 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17 March 2020.

The sign-up period for the 57 cultural and artistic courses offered by the “Casa de Porras” University Cultural Centre  this term is now open (until 17 January), with courses commencing on the 20 January and running until March 2020.

The extraordinary application period for UGR doctoral programmes will run from 8 to 28 January 2020. The University of Granada currently offers 28 cutting-edge programmes through its Doctoral Schools in Humanities, Social Sciences and Law (EDHCSJ); Science, Technology and Engineering (EDCTI); and Health Sciences (EDCS).

With a view to establishing new collaboration projects and strengthening current agreements, a UGR delegation headed by the Rector, Pilar Aranda, recently visited several Russian universities and institutions.
