Undergraduate Degree in Primary Education, Physical Activity and Sports Science. Joint Degree (Melilla)

Our joint Degree in Primary Education, Physical Activity and Sports Science was set-up in response to the need for highly versatile primary education teachers in the city of Melilla, on the north coast of Africa, where one of the UGR’s campuses is found.

The main goal of this joint Degree is to train teachers who are not only capable of teaching in primary schools, but who can also specialise in developing and promoting physical activity for a healthier lifestyle, not only in schools but also in other educational centres.

Our faculty has a strong international outlook, and is fully committed to training teachers who are able to participate in diverse educational projects. Our renowned teaching staff are experienced both in teaching and research in this field.

This six year Degree has four learning stages: basic subjects, core subjects, a compulsory 44-credit internship programme, and elective subjects. The internship programme is carried out in other education centres in the city of Melilla. Subjects include contents in knowledge areas such as physical activity, sports, teaching resources, Spanish, mathematics, English or French, sports, music, human physiology and psychology.

Our graduates acquire the skills, knowledge, and training to become excellent primary education teachers in Spain schools, both state-owned and private. They often go on to become professionals in physical activity and sports, which allows them to become trainers in gyms, activity coordinators in sports centres, or coaches and physical educators with expertise in teaching children with special needs.

By choosing this degree, our graduates not only become professionals in teaching children all the foundational knowledge they need, but also in promoting the benefits of an active lifestyle. This will allow children to avoid health problems like child obesity and unhealthy lifestyle habits. Our graduates are highly versatile professionals and possess the know-how to make a considerably positive impact on society.
