The third edition of the annual conference Researchers in Training: Promoting Interdisciplinarity (JIFFI) will be held from 20 to 22 June 2018 at the UGR, with the aim of encouraging doctoral candidates to engage in cutting-edge interdisciplinary research. The event will bring together over 300 participants from 23 universities from across the globe, including countries such as France, Brazil and Kazakhstan.  Renowned experts from the higher education, business and communication sectors will deliver the core contents of the programme.

The JIFFI conference was originally launched three years ago by the Council of Doctoral Student Representatives and the International School for Postgraduate Studies with a very clear objective in mind; to forge links and build bridges between researchers from diverse disciplines, enabling them to provide solutions to the most pressing challenges of our times. Many of these complex challenges can only be tackled through effective collaboration between different scientific disciplines. Accordingly, a key aim of the event is to initiate new collaborative research approaches, interdisciplinary publications, and joint projects.

Through round tables, debates and competitions, participants will have the opportunity to present their own research projects and shed light on the different techniques and tools they employ in the course of conducting their studies. They will also have the chance to highlight the impact and potential implications of their research findings for diverse knowledge areas.

The events are open to doctoral candidates, research group directors, supervisors, as well as all members of the university community and the public.

With a view to fostering best practices in the dissemination of science and research, the Organising Committee will stage a competition that will grant awards in 5 areas:

  • Best photography
  • Best monologue
  • Best poster
  • Best conference paper
  • Best practices in the dissemination of research

Moreover, a broad range of complementary activities has been organised as part of the event, including a speed networking session, a guided tour exploring Granada’s history and art, and the chance to try some of the city’s best tapas.

Conference dates: 20-22

Sign-up deadline: 25 May 2018

Venue: "Espacio V Centenario" Building
