Project profile
This is a 3-year project started at the University of Jaén (Spain), transferred to the University of Granada in 2013, and completed in 2016. It was intended to identify potential patterns of competition in English derivation. The results were presented at international conferences and published in papers, chapters in edited volumes, and as a monograph (listed here). They focus on derivatives that use a transparent morphological structure vs. those that do not but are more economical, again in morphological terms. Examples of results obtained are Table 2 (Derivatives in zero-affixation and -ation for the expression of the sense ACTION) from Lara-Clares (2017):
