endometrial cancerdefinition: carcinoma that arises in the lining of the uterus. The types of endometrial cancer are adenocarcinoma, adenosquamous carcinoma, papillary serous carcinoma and clear cell carcinoma. One of the symptoms of the disease is abnormal bleeding after menopause. This disease may be diagnosed with pelvic exam, endometrial aspiration, D&C aspiration, and Pap smear. Treatment includes surgery (total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo or a radical hysterectomy), radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and hormone therapy. It accounts for 13% of all cancers in women. Women at greater risk of getting endometrial cancer have gone through menopause, never been pregnant, have a family history of the disease, have hypertension, are diabetic or obese or have endometrial hyperplasia.
