    ETHNOMATHEMÁTICS. ISGEm.

ICEM-1 is a center for scientific debate for the contribution of spreading ETHNOMATHEMATICS as a form of thought initiated by the ISGEm group. Ethnomathematics lies at the confluence of mathematics and cultural anthropology.

Since its origen in1985 by D´Ambrosio, members have been doing mathematical and historical studies on multicultural societies, marginal groups, etc. Social and political conditions are analyzed to find more adequate programs in the teaching of Mathematics. In addition, theoretical studies on math Knowledge and its diversity have been done as well as its use in technical, social and scientific contexts.

    The group publishes a newsletter.
