This is Ofecum
OFECUM is a socio-cultural volunteering organization devoted to foster participation of older adults in Granada. Since its foundation, in February 1998, OFECUM has focused on organising activities which promote active aging and intergenerational solidarity. We produce and distribute a monthly newsletter under the name of Cultural Calendar including every daily opportunity available to enjoy culture in town. Moreover, we implement many other initiatives such as hiking, fitness classes, national and international trips, computer courses, a forum and a chat specially conceived for older persons, informal talking gatherings, formal talks, home visits to dependent older persons, reading workshops and many other activities. | OFECUM implements several projects and programs. For instance, we co-ordinate the so-called NETWORK OF CULTURAL CORRESPONDANTS, a mean to increase as much as possible opportunities for older persons in day centers are able to contribute to the welfare and development of our town. We even run some Intergenerational Programs, such as storytelling in elementary schools and a fortnightly radio-talk, which allow contact between children/youngsters and older adults. |
