Pico del Mulhacén
The Mulhacén peak (3482 m), the highest mountain of the Iberian peninsula.

My research interests lie in the fields of structural geology and tectonics and focus on determining the structural history and tectonic evolution of extended orogens, mainly in the Betic-Rif-Alboran region, between the Iberia and Africa plates. My research projects are strongly field based with field observations and geological mapping as a foundation and supported with microstructural analysis and petrologic thermobarometry. Major themes include special emphasis on large-scale intracontinental extension, the relationship between faulting and seismicity and the analysis of mylonites and other deformed rocks in ductile and brittle shear zones.
