The research group
“Interpreting and the challenges of globalisation: training and profession”
The research group “Interpreting and the challenges of globalisation: training and profession” was set up in 2001, with the aim of improving Interpreting Studies in our country.
The members of our group believe that the training of future interpreters cannot ignore the evolution of our society. Consequently, both training and profession must face together the new realities of today. Developing and reinforcing solid research activity which contributes to the improvement of both training and profession in order to face the new challenges is our main objective.
Fields of research
The members of our group (a total of 13) share the very objectives which define it. Within a greater degree of specialization, the group brings together specialists from different fields, who all share, however, a strong interest in the acknowledgment of the profession through a greater quality in the training of interpreters. The main fields in which members of the group are currently working are:
- Interpreting for the public services
- New technologies in the training of interpreters
- Interpreting for specialised conferences
- Sign language interpreting
