Biography

I received my Ph.D. degree in July, 2014 and my M.Sc. degree in Telecommunication Engineering in October, 2008 both from the University of Granada (Spain). I am currently working as postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Computer Architecture and Computer Technology (University of Granada).

My current research interests include the fields of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. I am currently focused on the application of intelligent systems and learning techniques to develop and optimize multiple sequence alignments. Other areas of interests I have worked are microarray analysis, prediction of protein-protein interactions (PPI), biological text mining and analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.

I have participated in several Spanish research projects such as DSIPA-BIO, HPC-BIO or ADA-BIO. I have been a visiting researcher in the Computational Biology and Data Mining Group of the Max Delbruck Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in Berlin (Germany).

I have also co-organized the two edition of the International Work-Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering (IWBBIO) in 2013 and 2014, being also Editor of the proceedings book and Guest Editor in the corresponding special issues in the Theoretical Biology and Medical Modelling and Current Bioinformatics journals.
