Biography and portfolio:

I was born in Churriana de la Vega, Granada (Spain). I graduated in physics (2001) and PhD from Universidad de Granada (2006). I am currently an associated professor at the Departamento de Electrónica y Tecnología de los Computadores, Universidad de Granada (Department of Electronics and Computer Technology, University of Granada).

- Year 1998: I became interested in modeling and 3D animation. First I developed a program in GW-BASIC to see and draw structures of points and edges in 3D space. But GW-BASIC was not right for my purposes, and soon I needed "help".

- Year 1999: I started to learn 3D Studio Max. I worked with this software and realized the power of 3D. I did tens of models and animations using it from this year.

- Year 2006: When in 2006-07 I started teaching the subject Physical Foundations of Computer Science, in Computer Engineering, I thought to use everything I had learned about 3D concepts to teach them to my students: Gauss' law, coordinate systems ... Unfortunately the cost of the license for 3D Studio Max (about $ 3600, as I recall) made me realize that the best alternative was to use free software.

- Year 2007: In 2007 I found Blender. The start of a new era...

- Year 2008: First training video: Density of states in a silicon crystal. This video was a part of the teaching innovation project "Interactive tools for learning and visualization of the operation of electronic devices." This video had good  issues, but there was room for improvement.

- Year 2009: I manage a teaching innovation project "Development of audiovisual and simulation for teaching of electronic devices." The second video production: Use of the oscilloscope.

-Year 2010: I teach the first edition of Blender animation course for teachers of the University of Granada, supported by the Vicerrectorado para la Garantía de la Calidad (Vice-chancellorship for Quality Assurance). I also teach the first edition of a course on Blender to students and professionals through the Escuela de Posgrado at Universidad de Granada (now being taught the second edition).

- Year 2011: I manage the teaching innovation project "The MOSFET". Third video teaching: El MOSFET (Spanish) and The MOSFET (English). I make a video of scientific visualization on wave functions in CdSe colloidal quantum dots.

- Year 2012: I manage the teaching innovation project "The PN junction." Fourth training video, Spanish and English. In production. I get the certification as a Blender Foundation Certified Trainer.

- Year 2013: We release the videos on the pn junction in Spanish and English.  La Unión PN (Spanish) and The PN Junction (English). I carry out a lecture on Blender's capabilities at the University of Leeds (UK).

- Year 2014: I'm currently working on advanced courses on Blender, including 3D printers and scanning.

Blender Courses

I currently teach courses on Blender in Escuela de Posgrado of Universidad de Granada. It is open to anyone having the access to universitary studies, or who can demonstrate previous experience in modeling and animation. The course level is basic.
I can also teach specialized courses on demand. You can ask me for an estimate and I could travel anyhere in the world for intensive courses if required. Courses can be held both in Spanish or/and English.

Online courses:

Also a chance for those living far from Granada...

Next courses about Blender (2014-15):

There will be two Blender courses during the academic year 2014-15: the fifth edition of the "Curso de Modelado y Animación 3D en Blender" and a new course: "Curso Avanzado de Blender", both in Escuela Internacional de Posgrado.
In the first course we will work on basic-intermediate level lessons using Blender versions 2.7x. I have the pleasure to announce that this course holds an extra lecture on Blender use together with 3D printers taught by an expert on this field.
In the second course we will work on rendering using Cycles, compositing, 3D scanning, physic engine in Blender and dynamics.
