Welcome

5th European Symposium on Ultrasonic Characterization of Bone

The 5th European Symposium on Ultrasonic Characterization of Bone (ESUCB 2013) will be organized at the University of Granada, Spain, within the Nondestructive Evaluation Lab, Dept. of Structural Mechanics. The Symposium is a continuation of four previous meetings, initially organized by the French-German network on ultrasound assessment of bone strength from the tissue to the organ level. The European dimension of this symposium is extended for researchers, students and exhibitors from Asia and America. During the 3-day symposium the cutting edge in ultrasonic assessment will be presented in oral and poster sessions. The meeting addresses the latest advances in basic science (ultrasound propagation models, non linear acoustics, backscattering, numerical simulations, guided waves), instrumentation and signal analysis (acoustic microscopy, transverse and axial transmission, imaging techniques) and applications (small animals, ultrasonic stimulation, osteoporosis and other diseases).
