Teaching

·                              My main teaching interests are Strategic Management, Operations Management and Innovation Management, especially at graduate level. In addition, research techniques and structuring research papers are courses I teach at PhD. Level.

Public output from research and scholarly activity

·                     °                Currently, I have more than 40 publications in peer reviewed journals as well as academic texts or chapters. I have presented research in more than 50 conferences worldwide and gained external funding for research and development projects. I have obtained academic and teaching awards in conferences and from the University of Granada. During my 4 years as Director of the Planning and Development Center of the Health Sciences Technology Park I was devoted to academic enterprise and consultancy involving external clients and partnerships organisations. I’m reviewer for the top journals of Operations maagament and Associate editor of CEDE (Cuadernos de Economía y Dirección de Empresas) and has been invited editor for different journals such as International Journal of Business Environment and Intagible Capital

·                     °                Public output from research has also a crucial impact on learning resources by increasing the materials available for students from consultancy activities and research. In addition, collaboration for a Master degree in Economic and International Management with SRH Hochschule Berlin was possible due to specific contacts at the Technology Park. I’m also external examiner for university degrees and research projects of the Spanish Ministry of Science and technology among others.

Pedagogic interests

·                     My main areas of pedagogic interest are implementing computer business simulation competitions at undergraduate and graduate level. This involves personal assessment and putting theory into practice for students. I’ve been organising simulations for more than 10 years. Simulations open broad possibilities for further pedagogic methodologies like open learning techniques or creativity for problem resolution practices among others.

·                      I have developed a network in Spain including Simulators providers and experts to go beyond mere number crunching and immerse students into a competition environment that involves real negotiations with economic agents (banks, distribution agents, Delegates, Unions, etc.). I have published the outcomes of these experiences in various research journals in the JCR database as it’s also one of my lines of research. I have organised competitions internationally.

·                     Outputs of these pedagogic techniques are simply amazing. Students get deeply involved an increase their interest for theory as they can apply it directly. In addition, they learn to manage internal conflict of workgroups as well as learning from everybody else decisions. The interactions produced during the simulation are really a life lasting experience for participants.
