Business Spanish Exam

The Centro de Lenguas Modernas offers the exams in business Spanish organised by the Cámara Oficial de Comercio e Industria de Madrid.

In 1978 the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Madrid, in collaboration with the University of Alcala, introduced the Business Spanish certificate at two levels. The objective of this official exam is to offer companies a reliable means of evaluating the linguistic competence of their staff. The certificates have considerable international value, giving students easier access to the labour market and boosting their career potential.

Information on this exam will be available at least two months in advance and there are usually two sessions annually.

CERTIFICATES

BASIC CERTIFICATE IN BUSINESS SPANISH

Recognises a survival level in the Spanish language and basic knowledge of business Spanish, sufficient to carry out routine activities in the workplace. The candidates’ language competence allows them to communicate in everyday situations and participate in basic administrative and commercial activities in a company.

ADVANCED CERTIFICATE IN BUSINESS SPANISH

Indicates a high command of the language and knowledge of the technical jargon used in the business world. It assesses a level of linguistic competence in Spanish within business and company environments in both oral and written expression.

COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK

Following the guidelines in relation to evaluation contained in the common European reference framework for languages: learning, teaching, evaluation, and in its process of validation and verification of contents, the equivalence of certificates in the context of the Common Reference Framework is:
