In Prydz Bay, turbidite levee deposits and large sediment mounds and ridges are reported to form parallel to deep-sea channels (Kuvaas and Leitchenkov, 1992). Down-slope processes have been the predominant process during deposition of the glacio-marine sequence (i.e., since 34 Ma to present). However, bottom-contour currents have been flowing westwards since the Oligocene/Miocene boundary.
