Abstract

85 talcum powder from 15 countries have been studied by X-ray powder diffractometry. Talc purity was very variable, between 47% to 93% (mean values). Chlorite, mica, carbonates, quartz, feldspars and amphiboles were the main mineral impurities detected. Talcum powder from Garmany and USA were the highest quality. Products from Chile, France, Andorra, Portugal and Colombia were the lowest.
