Abstract
Numerous compounds in dialy industrial, agricultural or domestic use have estrogenic effects. Alkylphenols, and some organochlorine pesticides have diverse chemical structures and mimics estradiol-17 beta in animals and in humans. For mots chemical pollutants we do not know whether they are estrogenic or not, what their effects are singly or together, or even the degree of exposure. We propose a new toxicologic approach to the study of these chemicals by which besides molecular structure and physicochemical properties analysis they should be tested to identify functional activity in in culture assays as the E-SCREEN for estrogenicity.
