Abstract

Polyamines are nitrogenous compounds implicated in plant growth and development. In this paper we have quantified the levels of free and bound Put, Spd, Spm and Cad, in the embryonic axes and the cotyledons of chick-pea seeds. On the other hand, we have studied the optimal conditions assays for some enzymes of polyamines biosynthesis: ADC, ODC and SAMDC. We have detected the four polyamines in both free and bound forms, being Spd the most abundant. ODC activity was under the limit detection, while ADC and SAMDC were present in the soluble fraction.
