History of the MCS symposium
| The
MCS symposium was launched in 1999 as The International Symposium on Multispectral
Imaging and Colour Reproduction for Digital Archives on the initiative of
Professor Yoichi Miyake from Chiba University, Japan, sponsored by the Society
of Multispectral Imaging of Japan and supported by the Japanese Information-Technology
Promotion Agency with the co-operation of many Japanese scientific societies.
Following the success of the first symposium, the Second International Symposium
on Multispectral Imaging and High Accurate Colour Reproduction, with several
invited speakers, was held in 2000, once again at Chiba University in Japan,
sponsored by the Miyake Laboratory. |

Since 2001 the multispectral symposium has been organised by an informal consortium of universities and researchers (www.multispectral.org). In 2001 the Third International Conference on Multispectral Colour Science (MCS'01) was hosted by the University of Joensuu in Finland. In 2002 the MCS began to incorporate itself into larger international conferences, to their mutual benefit. In this same year the MCS'02 was back in Japan as part of the International Congress on Imaging Science, ICIS'02, Tokyo, Japan. In 2003 the MCS'03 formed part of the Image Processing, Image Quality, Image Capture, System Conference, PICS 2003 in Rochester, NY, USA. In 2004 the International Symposium on Multispectral Colour Science MCS'04 was integrated into the Second European Conference on Colour in Graphics, Imaging and Vision CGIV'2004 in Aachen, Germany and in 2005 MCS'05 will form part of the 10th Congress of the International Colour Association AIC Colour 05 in Granada, Spain. |
