Short bio

I was born in Villa del Rio (Córdoba, Spain), on November 2, 1966.

I attended at Primary School until 1980. Next, the high school was   Instituto Santos Isasa at Montoro (Córdoba, Spain) until 1983.

From 1983 to 1989 I completed my undergraduate studies in Mathematics, obtaining:

Once finished,  I defended my Master Thesis entitled Curvatura de Gauss prescrita en superficies compactas (Compact surfaces with prescribed Gauss curvature), under the supervision of Prof.  Sebastian Montiel.

I began in 1989  with by doctoral studies, finishing in 1996 with the Doctor degree in  Sciences (Mathematics) by the University of Granada. My advisor was Sebastián Montiel again, and the title of the thesis is Superficies con curvatura media constante en el espacio euclídeo (Constant mean curvature surfaces in Euclidean space). I'm especially honored to have received the Premio Extraordinario.

Since October 1989, I began to teach in the University of Granada as a member of the Department of Geometry and Topology. After several positions, I now am  'catedrático de universidad' (full professor).

I am happily married and I have two daughters.
