Dear Colleagues,

Many of our students who came to Karelia in previous years are really grateful to their Russian language teachers who gave them information about our School. We would appreciate it a lot, if you could forward this information to any of your students and colleagues interested in visiting Russia in 2006.

Why come to the Russian Language School in Karelia "Open Your Russia"?

v       Our programs  offer an alternative to the standard academic summer programs. We pay special attention to the designing of specialist courses. We avoid the  standard general course format and offer original courses including extra-curricular activities  .

v       Our classes are held not only in the classroom but also in authentic locations; in real cafes, shops, bookstores, streets, post offices, in other words,  everywhere where you can learn day-to-day Russian.

We use  a unique tutor system. Our tutors are Russian students who help our foreign students to adapt to local conditions and involve them in Russian everyday life more. Our tutors go with foreign students to the cinemas, to the bars, to the concerts, to the museums, to the night clubs, and even organize parties (for ex, National Food Party, Russian Food Party).

v      A  small organization such as ours is more flexible enabling it to cater to the students’ needs and is always  willing to alter the program if our participants request this.

v       Our coordinators organize sight-seeing tours aimed at giving a full introduction to Russia and the Russian culture.

Here are some comments  from our past course-participants:

˛    "I must say that I have been left with an excellent impression, not only of the program but also of Russia and Russian people. I would definitely recommend this program to other people. First of all, the language program is very good and you learn a lot in a short time. Secondly, all the excursions are great fun and you get to visit beautiful locations and see the real Russia. Finally, all the coordinators and tutors are wonderful and we had a great time together.” Caroline Pierce, Ireland

˛"The coordinators & other people of the organization have set up a really good program; with good teaching methods and activities by which we were able to get to know each other better & better. Because the groups aren’t too large, the program is flexible and it has been possible to integrate activities many people wanted or changes into program.” Natalia Boet, Netherlands
